Guest /u/Ok_Letterhead6134 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I recently bought my first MacBook and have already mastered it a little. I saw the Automator application and thought that maybe I could automate something with it, but I didn’t succeed because I don’t have much programming skills. So, I’ll try to explain what I need: I’m a musician and sound engineer and I use various software for writing and mixing music, such as Pro Tools, FL Studio, Logic Pro, LUNA. Inside these programs I use plugins to create and process sound, but the libraries of these plugins take up a lot of disk space, so I use an external SSD drive. It often happens that I forget to connect it to the MacBook and when I open projects in the software, chaos begins for me, because all the paths to the SSD are missing. So, I would like every time I start one of my programs to first check if the SSD is connected to the Mac, and if it is not connected I would get some kind of warning message, maybe as a regular push notification. I see it as: (If) SSD is disconnected (and) Pro Tools (or other software) is running (do) A message about the need to connect an external SSD Can I do this using Automator or some other method? submitted by /u/Ok_Letterhead6134 [link] [comments]
