[iOS 18.2] Too many special characters after update & what fix worked for me

After the 18.2 update, my dual language keyboard (German, English) was showing way too many special characters when long-pressing; it almost seemed like every possible variation of the letter I long-pressed came up, with those relevant for German somewhere lost in the middle.

 

I managed to fix this by going into the settings for my keyboard, changing to another layout and back to my original layout. Now the varieties of special characters have returned that I had before the 18.2 update. I’m posting this for anybody who’s running into the same issue and looking for a quick workaround until this gets fixed.
