Apps keep trying to open Safari, but my default Browser is something else. Sound familiar?

Hello all! I am wondering if any of you have experienced the weirdness I am experiencing lately. I use Opera as my default browser and did my best to delete all traces of safari.... yet any time an app needs to open a browser window, it will ONLY initiate in safari (which inevitably does not work because I do not have it installed). This only started happening after I last updated. It's weird and it means I now can't log in to any of my Google apps on my phone. Has something like this happened to you? Has anyone found a solution?
