Macbook network delay when waking from sleep

Hi, is the delay expected when waking macbook from sleep? Just bought a new Mac and it's basically perfect other than this minor hiccup tbh. Every time I wake my Mac (which is instant), I have to wait a non-negligible amount of time waiting for network access.

 

Any way to fix this?
