It's time

I've been a Windows user for a long time, Windows being an accessible and beautiful (at the time) operating system, until recently. Previously, I had already been using macOS to use programs like Mathematica, MATLAB and COMSOL for my work, but I never wanted to jump to this system to use it personally on a daily basis.

But, I think I've reached a point where I've reconsidered that decision. The state of Windows is a mess, it's just layers and layers, patches and paint that will eventually fall off, in a repetitive cycle that doesn't seek to fix certain problems (I absolutely hate that I can't read large files without File Explorer deciding to freeze, or that sometimes the thumbnail cache gets corrupted).

I'm a person who usually reinstalls the operating system at least once a year, and configuring Windows over and over again gets tedious and tiresome (change settings in the Control Panel, then in the modern settings application, go to gpedit.msc, then go to regedit.exe, then maybe to services.msc). With macOS, I just go to system settings, and change a few small Finder settings, that's all.

Maybe I should go to therapy, but in some ways, macOS has helped give me peace of mind. The only downside, perhaps, would be giving up most of my (Steam) games, but it's a small sacrifice I'm willing to accept.

Of course, macOS isn't perfect. But, at least it tries to be a good thing. So, it's time for me to move to a new, expensive, but beautiful home.

Why am I sharing this?, just because.
