Could I use my old MacBook Air as a monitor+keyboard for the new Mac mini?

So I’m thinking of getting the mac mini as my current device isn’t very powerful. I actually do have a monitor at home, but I like the 2 screens. I still want to be able to use my MacBook Air 2017 normally when it’s not paired with the Mac mini tho. There’s a high chance I will buy it in China and my region is Europe. Is this possible and what adapters would be required? (I have one that converts the thunderbolt to hdmi and one that converts USB to Ethernet, the other USB port is unstable)
