Guest /u/AdBusiness8103 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 I feel so so so so stupid right now.... Yesterday I sat and looked at my old time machine copies and wanted to make a new safety copy of my laptop. I thought that I might as well delete some of the old ones to make space. So I googled to see how to do it right, found an article and followed that. Everything worked fine, old ones got deleted, and a new copy was in the making. Now to the part that makes me feel stupid... When I sat down and looked at the time machine files I thought that I should check that everything is still there, and drum roll --- no. Almost everything in the two latest copies was gone. All the old pictures that I was so happy to have found are now gone. I SHOULD HAVE KNOW that of course time machine don't save every identical file each time it does a copy! And I'm also a bit mad that the article didn't say that, so stupid people like me don't make this mistake. I already know that there's no way to get them back, but I'm going to ask anyway. Is there anything I can do to get them back? EDIT- to clarify, my laptop is fine, it's the old file in the old time machine copy that is gone. I saved to old ones and there is almost no files left in them. I think it because the original files were located in older copies, which i so stupidly deleted.. submitted by /u/AdBusiness8103 [link] [comments]
