Guest /u/Pyzen_S Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Finally unboxed my MacBook Pro 16 with M4 Pro. Lovely bit of kit, but as a Windows user of 30+ years I'm struggling to grasp some of the basics. What's vital for me is to be able to integrate the MacBook into my existing setup, so I can continue to use my monitor and peripherals. Have run into the following issues and would appreciate any help: External mouse scrolling is awfully jittery. Scrolling is buttery smooth with the trackpad, but I don't plan on having the MacBook open when at my desk. Have tried a few mice, all wired, and scrolling stutters to the point of being off putting on all of them. What am I missing? Managed to get my HyperX keyboard working using the Keyboard Setup Assistant, but some keys aren't functioning. Are the likes of Home, Del and End not a thing on Mac, or is it a limitation of my keyboard model? I want to keep the MacBook closed in a vertical stand on my desk, attached to my monitor via USB-C. With my old PC, I could set it to turn on whenever power was attached. Is there something similar for Mac? Having to lift out the MacBook, open the lid and press the power button each time would be a pain, and I ideally don't want to leave it on 24/7. Want to find a way for it to power on when I flick the switch at the mains. I have my 5120x2160 monitor set to 3360x1418 in display settings. This makes the test readable, but I'm not sure I've done it right. On my old PC I'd set the desktop to native 5120x2160 and then adjust scaling to make the UI usable. By using 3360x1418 am I still maximising the screen's potential? I don't see any options for UI scaling. Thanks for any advice. I knew there'd be a leaning curve, but as an experienced PC user, it's funny how some of the basics are hard to grasp. submitted by /u/Pyzen_S [link] [comments]
