My primary use case is programming and occasionally running university-specific software. I know Macs are generally more expensive, but I also understand that they offer excellent build quality, and the newer M-series chips are very powerful. That said, I don’t use an iPhone or any other Apple products. I know Apple’s hallmark is its cross-system integration—features like AirDrop, Handoff, and iCloud that tie their ecosystem together. Since I wouldn’t be able to use those features, I’m wondering: What are the key advantages of using a MacBook over a much cheaper Windows machine for programming and general college use? Is it worth the premium even without leveraging the Apple ecosystem? I’d love to hear from people who have used both MacBooks and Windows laptops, especially if you’re also into programming or have faced a similar decision.
