Guest tlc_13200@hotmail.com Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I have an MSI 7345 mobo and all I want to do is install Server 2008 onto it with two SATA drives... hopefully in RAID. Does SATA Drivers need to selected and installed in order to work? D.Morales

It easy to find out. If they are needed and you don't provide them the install will fail,...if the OS already has them included and is therefore "aware" of them, then the install will continue. If they are needed then they must be provided during the install. In 2003 and older you hit F6 durning the beginning of the Install and then had to provide the drivers on a floppy (may require a USB External Floppy drive if the server has none built it). I don't know if 2008 operates the same way or not. -- Phillip Windell http://www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. -----------------------------------------------------

Guest tlc_13200@hotmail.com Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Re: I am curious about server 2008? Hi John B and Phillip W - I have asked the mobo manufacture, they claimed that they don't have the drivers that Intel does... although I have downloaded them and will attempt to place them onto a floppy drive, but I'm not sure how Server 2008 works compared to Server Small Business 2003 R2 is compared to pressing F6 as we are aware of it... I guess I since no one really knows for sure, will surely find out. If anyone has installed it, perhaps they too can suggest if it requires the "F6" function to be selected upon installation. Guest Andrew Morton Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Re: I am curious about server 2008? If the OS doesn't have the drivers built in and you have to resort to the floppy method, you may need to put the drivers in a folder named $OEM$\TEXTMODE on the floppy. Andrew

I'm just curious... does it reqire to load RAID SATA drivers? Thinking that it's a later version of the software(s) that they would have hoped to add it to the system. My note was really just a FYI. Andrew
Guest tlc_13200@hotmail.com Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Re: I am curious about server 2008? Andrew- Apparently the system works without ever doing a F6 to install RAID drivers, however, however it locked up after installation requesting a user name and password. Any suggestions how to get past it?
