Confession: I’m Buying a Gigabyte M32U in 2025 for MacBook… Help Me Justify This!

Hey everyone, I’m about to drop $625 on a Gigabyte M32U to pair with my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 as the primary display. Yes, it’s 2025, minus the 2 days as of now :), and yes, I’m that person who’s late to the party. But hey, 4K, 32 inches, 144 Hz, KVM… it still sounds sweet, right?

Here’s the deal: I spend my days writing code (think endless lines of Python, JavaScript, PHP) and my nights dabbling in video editing (read: editing cat reaction videos and occasional short films—don’t judge!). I’m looking for something that gives me crystal-clear text during coding marathons, plus decent color accuracy so I don’t butcher skin tones in Final Cut Pro.

I know the M32U got a lot of love when it first came out, but time moves fast in tech. Is $625 in 2025 still a solid deal, or has the market served up a dozen newer, cheaper, and better 4K panels by now? Any weird macOS scaling issues still lingering? Input lag nightmares? Anyone here regret buying it? Yes, I know—that’s more than some of you paid back in the day, but with shipping and taxes, this is the best I can do. I’m already bracing for those “dude, you overpaid” comments, so bring it on!

I’d love to hear from current (or former) M32U owners. And if you’re using it with a MacBook Pro, please spill the tea: is it the perfect match or just an okay fling?

Thanks in advance for the advice. Let the “2025 is late, dude” comments commence! And if you think there’s a better 4K monitor out there that won’t break the bank, let me know—I’m all ears (and I might have an extra kidney to sell). Let’s hear it!
