Guest Johnny Mowad Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 When I shut down Windows file ccSvcHst tries to end. I then get a message that it is not responding and if I want to end task. After clicking yes, my computer takes a very long time to completely shut down (3 to 5 minutes). Any help with this problem will be appreciated. Johnny Mowad

My best recommendation to you is to get rid of Norton and install a better antivirus such as NOD32, Kaspersky, or even Avast if you want a free one. The built-in Windows Firewall is adequate for most people. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Edit the following keys: 1) AutoEndTasks: Default is 0, make it 1 2) Close the Registry editor and reboot. Next time you shut down it won't bother you to close it. - Thee Chicago Wolf
Guest mike ling Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 RE: Windows XP Shut Down I had the same problem. I found that Norton has a fix for this problem and it worked great! Here is the link and good luck!http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080401070935EN&ln=en_US "Johnny Mowad" wrote: > When I shut down Windows file ccSvcHst tries to end.
