Hello, my CD/DVD drive does not work all of the time. It will read any CD i put in or any old game but not any of the recent games. Now i'm not a PC pro so i'm not sure if it is a firmware issue or a driver issue if it is either could you point me towards any good sites that would have either a driver or a firmware update for - TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C, Thank you

Hi and welcome to ExTS

This is a strange one !!

Are you sure that the new CDs are "New" and not copies ?

Start > type in .......devmgmt.msc ...ENTER

Are there any yellow exclamation marks next to DVD CDROM ( click the + )

Are you also sure that it is some CDs .............

There are 2 lasers in the drive.

One for CDs and the other for DVDs

One of these can get damaged and prevent one specific disk type from being read.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Yes i have checked that and there is no yellow warning icons. The disks that do not work for me are new games (last 2/3 years). What will work is old games , CD's and DVD's. I do not belive anything is damaged because it can still read DVD's CD's and old games. I'm really stumped :)

Hi

Try deleting the upper and lower filters

See here

Try the "Fix It" ( scroll down )

If that fails - scroll down further and delete the upper and lower filters manually.

Refer to the XP instructions.
