And note that these are newsgroups, not web forums (fora?)...you'll have a much better experience with them if you don't use the web interface. Try a news client, such as Forte Agent, Thunderbird, or even Outlook Express, rather than the pretty clunky web interface to the newsgroups. It's a lot easier to do nearly everything that way. You can mark messages to be watched, filter the views so you can see replies to your posts easily, and search. The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can subscribe to as many groups as you like; no authentication is required. Guest tl Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Re: What community for Windows 2008 hardware questions? Hi Meinolf I have a Windows 2008 x64 system, and I'm trying to use a Sony SDZ-120 SAIT tape drive. I've downloaded the correct driver (http://sony.storagesupport.com/node/464). But when I try to install the driver in Device Manager, I get the error, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupt or missing (Code 39)". I asked Sony technical support about this, and they said it was a problem in the Registry. I Google'd 'code 39', and found several KBs on how to fix a 'code 39' problem with DVD/CD drives. But I can't find anything about 'code 39' and tape drives. The instructions in the KBs for 'code 39' and DVD/CD drives don't seem to map to what I see with a tape drive. Help, please! Thanks tl "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello tl, > > What error do you get?
