jwepjb Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Acer Aspire T180 Amd Athlon 64 x 2 4GB ram Vista sp2 For no apparent reason after start-up, PQService has decided to try and open as a removable drive; normally H drive here is the message i get:- H:\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted , or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location. I have tried to do some research on this but cannot locate anything, other that to know its the hidden partition for an Acer PC reboot to factory conditions. My pc although being a few years old now, is normally very stable with no problems. Nothing has been changed on my PC to provoke this event. thanks for any help Phill Quote
KenB Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS If this is fairly recent try a System Restore to an earlier date ( just before the start of your problem ) Start ....type in ....system restore ............ENTER After it opens click "Next" There will be an option to view older dates by checking a box if necessary. Files / photos etc will be ok. Installed software / updates after the selected date will be lost. KenB Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Hi This message seems to refer to the recovery partition on your hard drive. Out of interest - as you mention "PQService" - please do the following..... Start > ....type in .....services......ENTER Scroll down and look to see if PQ Service is listed. If it is - right click on it and change the setting to "Manual" ( I have checked my "Services" and it is not listed but I do not have a recovery partition on my Acer machine ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! jwepjb Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 I did check early on if there was something i could 'switch' on or off in services but its not listed..... Good news problem solved, in a fashion I cloned my hard disc and then deleted the PQService EISA partition so at least i still have the original drive to fall back on if required Many thanks for all of you who helped Quote
KenB Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Thanks for the feedback I did consider deleting the partition - but was holding this back as a last resort :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
