You mean turn off/on the external hard drive? To remount it, simply plug the drive into the desktop's firewire port again. If I've misunderstood your question, please clarify your situation, the problem, and what you're really trying to do. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! Guest Jnlim Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Re: How to reconnect external usb drive Thanks, that does it. I didn't know fire-wire are hot plug-able. Guest Lil' Dave Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Re: How to reconnect external usb drive Glad you have some insight on hot-plugging firewire. Don't understand why one would want to in normal everyday conditions. Unless of course your external firewire enclosure has no on/off switch. And, you're not up to the job for installing a remote power switching station for your external hardware which provides or removes AC power by independent manual switches. -- Dave If it looks like fish, smells like fish, its not a cantaloupe.
