Is this your personal computer? If this is an office computer, the

administrator placed restrictions on plugging in external USB devices

(HD) so data from the computer cannot be transferred to an external

device. No way around it.

Hi Stuart,

The ONLY way around it is to ask your Administrator to change the Group

Policy. Or log in locally, but that could put the network at risk when

logging back in to the domain.

A tool? Not sure what that is.

If you're an Administrator, then use the Group Policy editor and disable

it. You don't mention whether you're on a domain or not. You may need

to use the Group Policy Management Tool in WS2003.

Stuart,

You're not answering my questions, and each of your replies are vague.

You state someone "had a tool". You may need that "tool" used to

reverse it.

I mentioned possibly there was a group policy set.

Question: Are you on a domain?

If so, the policy is most likely set on the server. If so, the network

Administrator would need to remove it.
