Search Does Not Find Boot.ini

I wanted to take a look at boot.ini under XP SP3 but had forgotten just

where it was. I opened C: via Windows explorer and Searched for it but

nothing came up. 'Show hidden files and folders' is checked in Folder

options and 'Do not show system files' is not checked either. So I took a

careful look at the root of C: and there it was.

My question is why didn't Search find it?

No big deal, just curious.

Thank you

On the search window, click on tools, folder options, view tab: do you have

a mark in the block that hides the operating system files? If so, that's

the reason.

Thank you.

No, I do not have such a mark there.

Re: Search Does Not Find Boot.ini

Search ignores Hidden and System files unless instructed otherwise.

Re: Search Does Not Find Boot.ini

Thank you. I sort of figured that. But, how do I go about instructing it

otherwise as you suggest?

Thanks again.

Re: Search Does Not Find Boot.ini

Click the "Change files and folder search behavior" button, and change

to advanced, and then set it where to look.
