If you are looking for the MAC ID of your router or cable modem (this is what is exposed to the outside world) then you need to go into the setup of the router or cable modem to see it. There is usually a 'stats' page etc that shows that MAC address.
Guest Terry R. Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Re: how to know the NIC ID The date and time was 10/31/2008 12:39 PM, and on a whim, Maurice pounded out on the keyboard: > Hello: > > how to know the NIC ID?? > thanks > > Maurice > > Hi Maurice, Click Start, Run, type devmgmt.msc and click OK. Expand Network adapters and double click on your NIC. Click the Details tab. Your device ID is listed there. If you want the MAC address, click Start, Run, type cmd and click OK. type ipconfig /all and press Enter. The physical address will be listed. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Delete NOSPAM from the email address after clicking Reply.
