I do not typically participate in any "fan boy" discussions about applications or operating systems. If you like the application or the OS that's fine with me. I may offer other alternatives, but I won't be dogmatic about it and if I think you are I will probably discontinue posting on that topic as I find such conversation a waste of time. No one pays me to pimp their OS or Application Hope this site works out well and hope to have a good time here while helping others and learning new things myself. Cheers. No one pays me to pimp their OS or Application[/quote'] Welcome AdvancedSetup! Your position stated above is admirable. I never heard the term "fan boy" before, but I assume you are referring to topics about programs or operating systems where people take sides according to their favorite product preference and engage in long winded discussions defending their favorite and bashing anything else. I agree that is a waste of time. On the other hand, I think it can be productive to engage in discussions that compare the features of one program or OS against another as long as it's done in a professional manner and as obectively as possible. Would you agree with that? ---pete--- Quote
AdvancedSetup Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Hi Pete, Yes absolutely as long as that was the objective and you all agree that you're attempting to provide PROS/CONS as to a reason for selecting a specific piece of software and NOT just because for some unknown reason you just love it. That should be the stated objective though and not just fly by posts USE LINUX, USE MAC, USE WINDOWS, or FireFox, IE, etc... As Mike says, he wants to go with VBulletin (which I may disagree with, but I won't push UBBT down his throat, but if he wants I would gladly review options, reasons for selecting UBBT over VBulletin, if not then I'll drop it as I don't gain anything financially from it.) Thanks for the Welcome Pete. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register hereIf Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. AdvancedSetup Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the Welcome guys. Not many posts here to help with though at the moment. Seems that most of the recent ones are from around the Holidays and many seem to be from the one time posters that never seem to find there way back to the forum. Will stop by now and then though to see what's up. NT Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Can you provide a link to a UBBT forum that you feel is setup very well? I've used many forums over the years and so far, vBulletin seems the best, but for my own personal knowledge, I'm always interested in checking out something that might be better. What do you feel UBBT has over vBulletin? ---pete--- Quote

What do you feel UBBT has over vBulletin? ---pete--- Well you can look at these posts for more information which probably sums it up. Version 7.3 is in beta right now and has a ton of new features Here is a list of the current 7.2.2 features http://www.ubbcentral.com/features.php 7.3 Change Log http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/196552 The Spotlight forum has links to sites that are running UBBT UBB Threads Commnity http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php Community Spotlight http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/41/page/1 VBulletin was based off of UBB many years ago. It is a rewrite now days though http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/ In 2004 VBulletin was at version 3.0 now almost 4 years later it is at 3.6x (not a solid indicator, but a potential indicator that development is slow) What does UBB have to offer me? http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/204379 UBB - IPB - vB ? http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=190082 Pre-Sales Questions http://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/40 .
