Charles Ripley, writing in PC Advisor asks the question, "If you don't really need Java, then get rid of it"

This is because of the security holes in it that are still unpatched, even though an emergency patch was issued recently to cover a security risk that was being exploited in the wild. This was covered in this post from Starbuck recently.

Makes sense to disable or remove Java if it isn't needed in any of your online work.
