Hi

My friend has a new printer(as above.) The installation, wether from disc or update from Epson, always stalls at the connection point where the PC tries to find the printer which is connected via USB. I have done two complete uninstalls and used CC to clear up any random registry issues.

I have also tried install with the Windows firewall disabled but nothing seems to make any difference. The OS is Windows 7.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

Thank you

Hi and welcome to ExTS

used CC to clear up any random registry issues.

We don't recommend C-C or any other registry cleaner as they can cause problems.

Try uninstalling the software.

Shut down.

Plug in the Printer and switch on.

Windows 7 should find new hardware and install the drivers for it. ( if you are lucky )

If not you will be prompted to install the disk and point the software to it to complete the install process.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

MiniToolBox

Network Test

I might add a couple things.

The Startup Guide Manual (Epson Stylus SX445W) seems to indicate that you should not connect the USB until prompted to do so during the installation. Try doing that after you select to install via USB versus the wireless installation.

I have had trouble reinstalling Epson software a few times when it was setup incorrectly. You may need to completely remove all the Epson setup components first. If so uninstall via Programs and features. Go to Devices and printers. Right click the Epson printer and select remove. Navigate to where it was installed (probably in C:\Program Files.......) and delete the files and folders associated with it.

Insert the disk to start the installion. When prompted choose USB installation instead of WiFi installation. Plug in the USB when prompted.

I hope this helps.

Hi Guys. Thanks for your advice but I had tried all these options as a matter of course prior to posting this thread. I'm starting to think that there may be a fault in the printer chip itself. I'm going to bring it over to my place and see if it installs on my Vista OS.
