Hi there guys.I am New here so hello.

I have a dell inspiron 1750 which i am trying to fix for my dad.

However i am pretty stuck to be honest. When turning the laptop all seems ok and the boot screen goes through ok.(dell logo)

However when i get onto the login page the screen starts going scatter y, lines across screen, flickering, pixels missing etc.

I have also tried going into bios set-up and the screen goes haywire.

Apparently this started happening after a screen replacement.Could it be the wrong screen?

How would i find out if this was the case.

thanks guys any help would be much appreciated.

p.s video will follow.

Do you mean that it didn't ever work correctly after screen replacement?

It should be 17.3 WXGA 1600 x 900 LED backlit panel. I can't find the part number, the best way is to look at the panel that was removed. If not available, you may have to remove the panel you have and check it is the correct part.

Before going any further, have you plugged a monitor in to your laptop to find out if it just a screen fault.

Hi there thanks so much for your reply.

Basically the old screen cracked so this screen is the replacement. It was done by someone who doesn't have much knowledge they made a pigs ear of it basically.

This problem has only started since the screen replacement yes that is correct.

I have plugged to an external monitor and it works splendid.

I have it in pieces at the moment,so i have the part number. Unfortunately i don't have the original screen so i cant compare.where do i go to see if its the correct part?

thanks

Hi,

So it does appear that the repair has caused the issue. Can you post the part number of the panel you have, perhaps its manufacturer and any other numbers worth mentioning and I'll look it for you.

Also, can you post the Dell Service Tag of your machine, its worth a look at the spec on the Dell site to cross reference.

hi.

sure the DELL service tag number is J1DMRJ1.Here is a picture:

The screen you have is the correct one for the Dell 1750, with one caveat. There is a full HD screen available as well (I have just found out), they call it HD++, yours is HD+. So there is a small chance of a mix up, do you know which model yours is? If you could remember back to ever setting your screen resolution, the HD++ will give you 1920 x1080 max resolution, the HD+ will give you 1600 x 900 maximum.

The Dell service tag was no use, it does not show the original config, so one way is to call Dell tech support.

Another would be to reconnect the lcd, and start the laptop up on an external monitor, one that can do the full HD resolution, and have a look at the highest resolution settings.

Hi, yes providing you have the right cables to go between the two. Any problem in that area let us know the socket or ports available on the TV and those on the back of the laptop.

You may also need to set the laptop to work on an external monitor, which may be possible with the present scattered pixels screen you do have. Let us know how you get on with that.

As far as I can see, we have good news and unfortunately bad news, the good news is that the graphics control is fine as it shows on the TV screen as perfectly OK.

Have you tried the laptop screen with both of those options?

If neither of them sorted the problem, then the lines shown on the laptop screen are not resolution problems as far as I can tell, it looks like a faulty screen may have been fitted, though Synapse may know a little more on that score and may be the frame rate, which should I think be 60HZ. Though if that were wrong I would expect to see problems on the TV screen.

Hi Nev thanks for reply.much appreciated.

I did try both options yes no change.

Hmm don't know what to do really.

i would be happy to get a new screen however if it wasn't the screen then it would be a waste of money and time so im in a bit of a tricky situation.

could anybody point me to the right screen i need to buy?

thanks again guys all your info is really helpful.

Looking at your recent pics, I wouldn't like to say you have a bad panel. Hook it up to the TV again so you can see what you are doing and wind down the resolution on your laptop sreen settings if you can. Set it 1024 x 768 or similar , and also try 1280 x 1024 or similar. Try your screen like that.

The picture of the LCD panel that you have just posted doesn't say 'broken' it looks more like the problems you get when a monitor is driven at the wrong resolution or refresh rate.

There are plenty of panels for your machine on ebay, if you want a link to one let me know.

Hi,Unfortunately still a no go.resolution change didn't do anything at all.

could this be a video wire problem? I know when the screen was replaced the hinges were to as the screen had come away from the bottom half, maybe its dislodged the video cable on the graphics card end?

could this be a possibility.think imn going to take a look at this properly.

thanks again.

Start it in Safe Mode.

The most recent picture shows the screen does actually work in a basic resolution. Safe Mode is a standard VGA mode, and it will not load the video driver, but will use standard Windows video driver.

I dont think it will work on both laptop and TV together because if you can see on tv then you wont see on the laptop, there are two different screen sizes so therefore its probably impossible to see on both the TV and laptop.
