External HDD automatically locked by BitLocker

Hello,

I use Windows 8 on my laptop, and my external HDD got encrypted with BitLocker out of the blue.

I have never used BitLocker, I do not even have it on my laptop (Control Panel does not show any icon for BitLocker & forums say it is only available with Windows 8 Pro).

Therefore, I have no idea why Windows has locked my HDD, and I have no means of recovering this as I do not have any recovery key or password (since I have never used BitLocker in the first place).

Please help.
