Evidently it works on once in a while or we wouldn't keep seeing them.

It makes me think that along with histroy, math and science, they ought to be

teachng in the schools practical things such as how to avoid scams and stay

safe on the Interent, along with how to manage finances, how to balance

a checkbook, and stuff like that.

I'm of the opinion they should teach the basic 3 R's along with practical information such as you posted Pete. After that, let them pursue the disciplines that they have a passion for instead of forcing them to memorize useless facts.

LOL - Yes, that is the problem Pete. I was reading the news the other day and they were saying that one of the US Government departments that handle this type of scam, continue to get about 800 cases a month.

 

That means that there are still almost 10,000 people a year that are at least potentially a victim or semi victim of this type of junk. Just amazing considering how it's plastered in online news, on TV news, on radio, etc.. and still people fall for it.

Unfortunately, it will probably never happen because it makes too much sense. :)

 

In the past, I've read some very interesting articles about why the public

schools are the way they are and not really teaching correctly. Memorizing

useless facts has it's advantages because it develops the mind a certain way

to just accept things and not analyze the information. This can be advantagous

if you are training people for a workforce where they need to take orders

and follow procedures without questioning.

 

It's been said that the purpose of schools in America are intended for

social change over learning development. Anyway, this is getting way

off topic, so i'll just end here.

 

Bottom line, there will always be uneducated or gullable people that

will fall for Email scams as you posted. Best we can do is educate the

people we come in contact with and hope the knowledge with spread.
