allegra Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Hi, newbie here! I've been searching on Google for the past 2 hours about this and found plenty of helpful information but I keep falling into hurdles:mad: Please could anybody provide me with some help on this - here's what I have got from Google so far; I'm in computer management, my d drive - page file, logical drive (162GB free) is showing up at the right-hand side of my c drive - boot, crash, dump, primary partition (11.2MB free) I have shrunk D but I can't expand C. I can't download a partition program (partition manager) because there isn't enough space to download and it wont let me download it to D drive. Please help if you can Thanks! A Quote
KenB Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Hi You say you have shrunk D:/ Just to confirm - If you Start > type in ....diskmgmt.msc .....ENTER Is the amount that you shrunk D:/ by showing to the right side of D:/ ( furthest away from C:/ ) ? If, when attempting to download the software you click on "Save as" instead of "Run" you should then be able to select "Computer - D:/" as the location. Try it with this: Easeus Partition Tool ( I used MajorGeeks as the parent company d/l was playing up :) ) No need to subscribe. allegra Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Thanks Ken. Yes the amount shrunk is to the right side of D. I only get the option to run when I tried using the software? I can't seem to get on that link you provided either :( Quote
allegra Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Oh sorry I have managed to get it installed... Quote
allegra Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 If you could help with how to use the program that would be great, i'm not quite sure. thank you Quote
KenB Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Hi Run the Easus software. You will see your C:/ D:/ drives. Right click on D:/ > Create/Move. On the bar ............drag the left side along .....you will see Un-allocated Space created to the right of C:/ Decide how much you want to add to C:/ It is then possible to expand C:/ into the Un-allocated Space. allegra Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Hi Ken I have done the above and applied changes (?), which rebooted my laptop and when I turned it back on it had reverted back to where it was before? And should i be expanding as before through disk management? The option to expand is still greyed out.. Quote
KenB Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Hi Sorry for abandoning you ...........had to go out for the afternoon :) OK. Probably easiest to do it this way .... Start > type in ...diskmgmt.msc ....ENTER Right click on D: > Expand the Partition The Wizard will run. Don't alter any settings - just click on "Next" The unallocated space that you created will be re-allocated to D: Now run Easus software again. Right click on D: > Resize/Move On the left side drag the slider to the right ( see attachment previous post ) until you have the required amount that you wish to move to C: You will see unallocated space created to the right of C: Right click on this unallocated space. > Create partition > give it a name > OK Now right click on C: > Merge Partition Tick the new partition ( the one to the right of C ) OK. This should now merge the two partitions and leave you with just C: and the smaller D: Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
