Vr5fx Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I had a search but could not find anything similar. This thread is to tell everyone else what you have recently purchased. Feel free to include a picture of the item. I wonder if there is a trend in spending habits. Plastic Nev Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Well, apart from the camera that took this picture, which was bought in June, nothing much computer related at all, though the latest purchase as such, was cat food for the guy on the left. http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/14/68/69/96/p1000110.jpg The camera though is something else, it is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ18. Only a pocket camera? well performance wise, not just a pocket camera, and quite pleased with results so far. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. RandyL Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Magnavox 500Gb HDD&DVD Video Recorder With Digital Tuner. I've been looking a long time for DVD recorder with a tuner. It's near impossible to find here in the USA. I can finally record my TV programs and get my movies off my camcorder. It even records in high def. The bad part is it's a Magnavox. Although the unit works great Magnavox support is worthless in my opinion. I told them the remote had a clear laminate surface that was bubbleing which was going to make it impossible to read the letters underneath. They told me cosmetic issues were not covered. I said I can't read what I'm pressing. They said as long as you can press the buttons it's cosmetic. That's like saying a book with no printing on the pages is not defective. As long as you can turn the pages it's just cosmetic. Magnavox which is owned by Funai would not escalate the issue or give me any corporate info. Walmart however did give me a new remote with no questions asked. All is well. I am happy. I can record again and don't have to pay a provider monthly fees for a DVR service. And I got it on sale for $280.00 Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. ( and he had it for 2 years before that ) I have used it ever since. My broadband company emailed me with an offer I couldn't refuse. Samsung Galaxy Y with 250 texts / 100 calls / 200MB d/l ..............all for £5 / month. I know some will say that 100 calls etc isn't enough .....but if you consider that my mobile monthly bill for years has rarely been above £3 this suits me down to the ground :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Plastic Nev Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Not quite a new purchase yet as finances won't stretch that far at the moment, but looking at something along the lines of one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewSonic-VX2258WM-widescreen-Multi-Touch-speakers/dp/B003Y3BJ6O/ref=pd_sim_sbs_computers_6 Not specifically that screen or model, just want a touch screen to see how I get on with it, but not going for the complete computer and screen as I already have too many computers as it is, so just need a monitor that will work with this Windows 7 one I already have. Plastic Nev Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Yep, came across their website while looking round, I just posted the Amazon link to show the idea, and just wondering if I can get one locally. Good website though. Will have to wait for a while though, first priority is either get the rusty old Ford Ka through another MOT, or if forced, find another old banger. Nev. As much as I can appreciate touch screen monitors, if it is anything like my tablets or mobile phone I would spend more time cleaning it than using it. Plastic Nev Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I believe you can get specific gloves that will at least mitigate the problem, at work we get some extremely thin fine white cotton things so the operatives can handle sensitive surfaced components, especially if the plastic moulding is to be kept super clean. (I work as engineer in a plastic injection moulding factory) Those gloves are so thin and form fitting you don't know you have them on, but still work a touch screen OK. Thanks for the kind offer there Ken, but hard to imagine that it was once someone's brand new pride and joy. Mind you, knock the dents out and a respray it could well go on show on a veteran and vintage motor display. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
