Plastic Nev Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 My latest thing is not computer related at all, but is a very decent second hand Mazda Demio car. Itook it out for a run round Yorkshire and finished up at Pateley Bridge as a part of checking it out and getting used to it. It drives well and handles superbly. http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/mazda_10.jpg http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/mazda_11.jpg http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/mazda_12.jpg Quote Need help with your computer problems? Plastic Nev Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Indeed Ken, the old one had got to the point where I was welding new onto last years welds, so it was time to let the scrap man deal with it. Plastic Nev Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Nearly neglected this thread, however the Mazda had to go, the engine management ECU decided to go faulty and would have cost more than a replacement car did, so got a nice Peugeot 106 now, no pictures as yet. The other nice bargain recently was a Canon Power shot SX50HS. It has a zoom of 50 times on the lens and a phenomenal 200 times in total by 150 of electronic zoom. Here are two demonstration shots of the moon to give an idea of what this thing can do. http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/moon_110.jpg http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/moon_210.jpg Quote Need help with your computer problems? KenB Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 How did you eliminate "shake" Nev ? These pics are amazing !! Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
Plastic Nev Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 The camera does have image stabilisation, however that on its own isn't much use at the full magnification of the 200 times zoom, so a tripod is certainly required. It also does a nice job of HD video, some slight and usual Youtube degradation, however this was taken the other week at Embsay station just outside of Skipton. Yes of course it is railway, what else did you expect from me? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. BreatGritain Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Nev those shots of the moon are amazing! My latest purchase: a Landrover Freelander - I already had one, but a lorry ploughed into the back of me at a roundabout just off the M1. Bought the new one from my dad (who's a car mechanic) It never let him down once. I've owned the b***** thing 8 week now and it has broken down FOUR times!? - Think my dad saw me coming. Quote

BreatGritain Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hah, no, I know that. It always was a really reliable car for him. He's really embarrassed that it keeps failing, won't stop apologising. I think it must just be missing him. Quote

Plastic Nev Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I wouldn't be impressed with a scratch like that and my car is 14 years old. Some careless idiots around isn't there eh? Nev. Ray1000 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj161/JRD81/Uncanny.jpg Sorry to hear about that Seedy, and hows this for a coincidence ... My sons black VW Polo ... same tarmac drive ... same boundary wall ... and same damage! You'll have to let me know how much it cost to respray ... I'm hoping the person who does the on-site scratches at the local VW dealership will come and do ours. Out of interest I had the front bumper on my Golf sprayed last year at the VW paint shop to remove a few stone chips ... £200 :( Ray Edit ... My son knows it was a White Vauxhall Astra that damaged his ... you'll have to keep a look out next time you go to the supermarket. Edited June 14, 2014 by Ray1000 Quote
seedy21 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Sorry to hear about that Ray. As I don't really have the money to pay for professional re-spray, I used a Touch-on Pen and a bit of T-cut and here is the results so far. I'm going to let it dry and continue tomorrow. Plastic Nev Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Finally some pictures of my Peugeot 106, my most recent means of transport. http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/new_pe10.jpg http://i55.servimg.com/u/f55/14/68/69/96/new_pe11.jpg As can be seen there are some dents on the driving side front wing panel, considering these are bolt on, I am hoping that I can remove the wing, then push the dents out from inside. Otherwise it is a fine car for its age as it was first registered in 2000, making it 14 years old. Cost me all of £500. Oh, and don't tell me, I know one wheel trim is an odd one, but who cares? Nev.
