Ok, so this i did buy for myself. :)

Have been looking for Mazda RX8 for some time now and finally saw just the one.

RX-8 231 PS: 6 Speed Manual.

Still getting used to the start up and shut down procedure ( cue a comment from Ken! ) as things are a little different when it comes to rotary engines.

I was thinking about getting one, but it was the rotary engine that was putting off as I assume you will have to take it to a specailist if they is something wrong with the engine?

You do have to really look after these types of engine.

As long as you top the oil up regularly (they do use about a litre per 1000 miles) and change it about every 6000, you shouldn't have too many problems.

If you start to get the common cold or hot start problems....you could be looking at an engine rebuild.

That's basically new tips and seals....about £1000.

The other main problem is flooding.... using the correct start up and shut down procedure will prevent this though.

The rotary engine is to some extent still in BETA mode. Like Christian, even if I could afford one, I wouldn't like to risk that much cash for a rebuild when it has worn out.

 

I actually doubt that they or any other engineering company will ever get the rotary engine to the same reliability as for example the Peugeot engines have.

 

A motor mechanic friend tells me they have yet to replace or rebuild a Peugeot engine except for those damaged by accident or other outside influence, they just keep going even when the rest of the car is a heap of rust on the floor. That takes some doing as well, Peugeot bodies just don't rust easily.

Every engine is in Beta as they are constantly improving design.

You can't compare a shopping cart to a real dream machine.:D

At least an RX8 has the possibility of your dream coming true.

It's like anything in life.... you have to make decisions.

Do you want a standard, practical, low tax, fuel economy etc car

or do you throw caution to the wind and go for Luxury, high performance, higher road tax and approx 25 mile/gallon.

 

I've done the standard practical stuff, now it's time to have some fun.

No kids at home, so it's not going to be used as a taxi.

You simply CANNOT mention Wankel engines to 15 year old boys without them howling with laughter.

I didn't realise they knew so much about engineering !!

 

That looks rather low seating .....I would end up rolling on the floor getting out ...........even without a drink :)

Well, regardless of the power plant under the bonnet, it is indeed a nice car, it looks sleek and fast and no doubt it is fast.

Not quite the extremely superb motor that Starbuck recently bought, however this should be good and fast, if a lot smaller, I ordered this on Saturday.

A crucial 500GB SSD drive, it arrived at 10.30AM this morning.

Not a bad price at £149.00, there was a small £3.33 delivery charge as well.

After sorting it out in disk management and formatting to NTFS, it is now nearly finished taking a clone off the computer so it can be fitted in place of the standard HDD.

Should at least speed up the boot time if nothing else.

 

Oh and before anyone reminds me, auto defrag is turned off and will be checked it is still off before going into full service.

The drive is now connected and running, what was just under two minutes boot up from cold, is now at just over 30 seconds, add to that the bigger programs that could take time to fully open are also much quicker to open too.

 

for anyone else reading this and installing an SSD drive, do make sure that defragmentation is turned off as in Windows Vista and upwards automatic defragmenting is turned on by default. Defragmenting SSD drives can damage them so it should never be done if possible to avoid it.

Prices and deals seem to change daily on Amazon, I found that when I bought my copy of Photoshop Elements 11 just over a year ago. I bought it at a good knock down price and two days later the price had gone up by over £10.00. Must be a regular thing, catch the bargain when you can is all I can say.

After nearly 14 years of retirement from guitar playing, I finally decided to get back into it.

Gone are the days of playing 'Rock covers' in a band... now it's going to be a little softer :)

Always fancied a Takamine 12 string so thought it would be a good choice for getting back into playing.

Finger tips hurt like hell after all this time.... but it'll get better.

I did buy it second hand though ...

 

The lacquered top has cracked with the central heating.

The cracks don't go through to the wood but do spoil the appearance a bit.

It still sounds OK - could do with a new set of machine heads.
