Killbear Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Hello there, I have a little problem. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and I am unable to install the drivers for my Belkin N600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Usb Adaptor. I have had problems with installing drivers for a little under a year, but normally I can just boot into safe mode and they will install. This time, however, the disk says 'Installing drivers' for a good three hours, and then says 'Completed.' This doesn't appear to be true as, on device manager, it shows my adaptor, but claims that no drivers are installed. This happens if I run the disk containing the drivers or if I lead device manager to the drivers manually. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
KenB Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS What happens if you plug the adapter into the USB port ? Does Windows detect new hardware ? Does the driver that you have "installed" show up in Programs and Features ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Killbear Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Windows detects the hardware, but the installation on the drivers always fails because the installer times out. The driver does show up on the programmes and features, and to some degree it works, I get limited connectivity, but no internet access. The drivers appear to be half-installed, unfortunately this is the case with most drivers I try to install. For example, I recently tried to reinstall my video drivers, but I was forced to restore my PC after they kept only partially installing. Thanks for the reply. Quote
Synapse Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Do you have the latest driver from the Belkin website, rather than using the install CD that came with it? Quote
Killbear Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Yep, downloaded directly from the website using my old adapter to connect. Quote
KenB Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 As this seems to be all drivers ..... Can you try installing with the Anti-Virus / Firewall disabled ? See how you go doing this.
