Hi,

Needless to say my troublesome computer will soon be on Ebay and a new notebook will be in the post very soon.

I'm looking for a new notebook that can handle streaming. What specs are going to give best performance, i.e., what hard drive rpm should I have, and what difference does the processor make (which type and what core). Would a large hard drive memory compared to a relatively smaller speed effect performance e.g., 750GB with 720rpm compared to 500GB with 720rpm? Is 540rpm enough, as I've seen a notebook that looks quite good with 500GB hard drive memory with that speed?

I have been using a computer with 320GB memory with 540rpm and an i3 core. I've had problems with streaming time outs and wonder what could solve these problems. The fault could be from an overloaded VPN or a overloaded network, either my provider or the network I'm connected to. If the problems are from overloaded networks, do the specifications of my computer make any difference?

I know the simple answer is go out and spend huge sums of money, but what should I have minimum so I can keep to a budget?

Your computer specs should not be giving you streaming issues. What sort of download speed are you getting from your ISP and why are you using a VPN which tends to slow things up a bit.

Hi BeeCeeBee,

My download speed is 20,000 kbit/s down and 1,600 up.

I need to use the VPN.

Thanks, good to know the specs are fine,

Rosmon.
