maynardvdm Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi This could be a number of things. First to check is the PSU as it is the cheapest to replace. seedy21 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 You could also remove the RAM and see if you get any beeps/ see if it stays on for longer. KenB Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Hi, Aren't kids great ?? :) I suspect that the motherboard may have been damaged .....hard to say. Take a look here: http://s13.zetaboards.com/kenspchelp/topic/6964867/1/#new It would help if we knew that the system used to beep once on boot-up ...........did it ? Once stripped down to the 20(4) way power connector switch on. If it used to beep before we are looking for POST beeps. If it does beep we can take it from there. If it NEVER used to beep ( no internal speaker ) then you are looking for the fans to stay rotating. In other words - a stable system - no system dying. Lukey Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 They are great but now I am even thinking of changing my tower case just so she can't press the power button on and off so easerly. I found the problem I replaced the 600 watt power supply with a 300 to see if it was the power supply that was the problem, just as a temporary. Everything looked good until the motherboard didn't respond it usaully beeps then loads all the data but it didn't, it just gave power to everything els like fans and lights ect. So what would you guys suggest do I buy a new motherboard or could it be something els.? Thanks for your help guys the world needs people like you. Quote
KenB Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Have you stripped down the system to the basics as per my previous post ? If you have the 300Watt PSU in ( know good and working ? ) and you still don't get POST beeps then it is a dead motherboard. If you buy a replacement you will need to re-install the Operating System unless you get exactly the same m/board. It is possible to get data off your hard drive if you need it.
