KenB Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS makes a quiet clicking The news isn't good I'm afraid ....... The clicking is more than likely your hard drive. It is the sound of a dead or dying drive. The arm with the read head on it ... Cannot read the data off the drive and swings across and hits a stop causing the clicking sound. A new (or known working) Hard drive will confirm if it is the hard drive that has failed. This video is very helpful Please ask is anything is unclear, and please do not take apart your hard drive. As the video mentions, taking it apart is a sure way of destroying it.
