hi, i'm in urgent need of help! my rear usb ports do not work. my front 2 were ruined by my little sister, but the rear ones were working up until 2-3 days ago. i have not installed any new software or anything.

when i turn my computer on, my mouse and keyboard work for a moment but then completely turn off. i use a usb hub which always has a light on. i have even tried to use my mouse and keyboard without the hub but my usb ports wont work. im a student and i urgently need to fix it.

any help is appreciated, thanks

(btw i use a Dell Dimension 5100)

Are you able to actively use a mouse or keyboard on the said computer? Do you have a PS/2 port you could use in the mean time?

How many USB ports are affected? Could you try each port using a flash drive and let us know what you computer does in regards to it working or not working?
