I am using XP Home and trying to install Seagate Backup Plus. In both normal and Safe modes I get the message "System Administrator has set option to prevent installation." In XP Home it is not possible to alter security setting via Control/Attributes. Neither is it possible to change from default setting by using HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and etc. So am I right in thinking that in XP Home you cannot get round the "System Administrator has set option to prevent installation." In short, I can't alter the default security setting and therefore Seagate Backup Plus won't install. By the way, I am the Administrator. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Hi Maskalyn and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

As to your present predicament, do other programs install OK, or have you had problems with other programs not installing or giving a similar message?

Also have you tried asking Seagate for help?
