fzbob Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I would like to upgrade to an SSD (preferably 120GB or more). I've been toying with the Samsung 830 one. What do you guys think about this , or would you recommend a different one? edit:- Meant to say....I can't see a forum for Hardware, so thought I'd post here as I have win7 home premium. Quote
Vr5fx Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Each SSD have different performances. I personally have a "Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD" Do I recommend this SSD? Yes. Go for what SSD you want, the only thing you want to do when you get one though. Do a clean install of Windows, so you use the SSD for main programs and use a backup hard drive for everything else. fzbob Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Thanks, I'll look into the Kingston. i've read about SSD' being supplied with cloning software, but like you I'd rather do a clean install. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 The only thing I will add, with Windows 7 it has automatic defragmenting, turn it off as defragmenting on an SSD is both pointless and can actually shorten the life of it.
