Brigham Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 My wife's Dell Dimension 5150 desktop can no longer access the internet. Any attempt causes it to freeze up. I have run MSE, Malwarebytes, and SuperantiSpyware, without updates of course, and they found no problems. I have tried it in safe mode, where it doesn't freeze, but still no internet. Any ideas? Brigham Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 I have a BT hub. the ethernet cable was loose. I don't know why it didn't show up when I jiggled it, as this was the first thing I tried. Quote

Starbuck Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I have tried it in safe mode, where it doesn't freeze, but still no internet. That explains things. Safe Mode has no internet connection..... this is why it didn't freeze. To get an internet connection, you have to select Safe Mode with Networking. Glad it's all sorted though. Quote Member of:UNITE
