ExTS Admin BetaTime Posted September 21, 2018 ExTS Admin Posted September 21, 2018 Windows 10 ignores WSUS GPO - No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations Hi Guys! I'm starting to get angry because of the Windows 10 update behavior, let me explain it. We have a WSUS server, with a couple hundred of Windows 10 clients, a few computer groups, no auto approve for the updates, specific group policy settings to avoid auto restart for logged on users, and still everything is went to sh*t on this week. New cumulative update (KB4093112), new update for windows 10 (KB4099989), i tested these updates and i approved it to install, and some of the clients decided to restart during the night, but I set the following via group policy ages ago: No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations Enabled Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations Enabled Wait the following period before prompting again with a scheduled restart (minutes): 1440 Configure Automatic Updates Enabled Configure automatic updating: 4 - Auto download and schedule the install The following settings are only required and applicable if 4 is selected. Install during automatic maintenance Disabled Scheduled install day: 0 - Every day Scheduled install time: 03:00 What the heck just happened? There was a logged on user on the machines and these settings just worked fine until this week. This is the log entry from one of the computers: The process c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe (computername) has initiated the restart of computer computername on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Operating System: Service pack (Planned) This is the official Microsoft documentation to disable auto restart for logged on users and now it’s not working or what?
