Hi, Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

A lot now depends on if it was a faulty PSU, or something else on the rest of it caused the PSU to fail.

The only way of course is to try another PSU. I do hope it didn't happen because of a water leak from the cooling as that could mean a new motherboard needed as well.

If it all works OK with another PSU though, then you can at least get a replacement from Corsair or money back.

Hi, at this stage, I am like you feeling the PSU blowing up also fried the MB.

What I recommend, and is what I would do in these circumstances, is to remove the motherboard, CPU included, and also any graphic card or cards, maybe even the hard drive and take the lot to a local repair shop and ask for both a check of all items, and a written report of all faults found.

Because Corsair have opened their mouth and insisted their power supply should protect everything else, you will then have written proof it didn't, and should be enough to get whatever is fried replaced at their expense, plus any testing and checking charges refunded.

hey, well ive sent the computer off and they said that everything was fine so they sent it back and ive plugged it back in and yea it turns on goes to boot then shuts down..??? what are they playing at. he said they took the HDD's out tested all them, also ram and cpu and even my old psu that crackled and popped apparently still works..!!! any ideas why it wont continue to boot now? everything comes on all the lights fans for about 10 seconds then the gamers elite bios menu pops up then it shuts down??

It should go straight back to them with a very big complaint and a mention that trading standards will be informed if nothing is done, or if they refuse any further work. At this stage anything you do now will be a lever for them to get out of doing a correct repair.

OK thanks for the update on this.

However, I have to ask, was the CPU cooler correctly mounted and with thermal paste? also it should be set up so that the pump to circulate the water is the first thing that starts. If no to both, then quickly overheating will be the result.

yep was correctly installed and used new paste. the pump wud start just a second after i turned on also had it turned right up because there is 3 settings. might be because im only using one fan on the radiator because i cant mount the rad internally with both fans without it clashing with the motherboard... im guessing thats the problem..?

Hi, for maximum efficiency both fans should be used, however with only one fan, I am surprised it heated up so quickly. You live and learn as they say.

hi, been trying to play a few games on my rig and they keep crashing. i would of thought my gtx 580 should run black ops 2 and assassin creed 3 pretty well.?

ive over clocked the fx 8120 to 3900 mhz 19.5X 1.275V i assume this is optimal for this cpu.? ive also tried clocking the zotac gtx 580 to 920/2200/1.100mv and tried to run the games then also set it back to standard and tried..? installed lastest openGL and direct X.

dont really understand why it crashes so much.?

Hi, sorry but games and overclocking is way over my head, I am more a hardware and sounds guy, so can't really help. You might just be better off starting a new thread, maybe in the games section or forum, but link back to this thread so whoever takes up the help will know to look here first.
