crl Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Hmm - can't locate my .pst file................ Quote
Armageddon Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hi you could try restoring to a previous version of the outlook folder containing the .pst file [h=2]How to recover via Previous Versions[/h]The recovery process via Previous Versions is very straight forward; Browse to the folder where your pst-file was located in. The error should indicate the path or otherwise look in any of the possible default folder locations Right click on this folder. From the menu choose; Restore previous versions The Folder Properties dialog will now open with the Previous Versions tab enabled. Double click on the most recent folder listed to see its contents. If the folder contains your missing pst-file, you can select and copy it (CTRL+C) and then paste it (CTRL+V) back into its original folder location. If the restore folder doesn’t contain the pst-file file, close it and open a less recent version until you’ve found it. If the folder containing the pst-file itself no longer exists either, right click on its parent folder (one level higher) and start the “Restore previous versions” process from there to see if it still holds a shadow copy of that folder. http://www.howto-outlook.com/pictures/previous-versions-outlook_files-folder.png Previous Versions of the “Outlook Files” folder in (My) Documents. crl Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 I'm using Outlook 2007 - what would be the default folder? Also, as this is a Windows Live account linked to Outlook, will the local pst copy update once restored? Or will I now always have a 'mismtach' between the mails on Outlook and the same if I access via the web? Thanks Quote
crl Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Have restored - it seems to be an .ost file rather than .pst - and am now using scanpst.exe to fix Quote
crl Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Okay. restored and back in Outlook, however my question is now - as this is a Windows Live account linked to Outlook, will the local pst copy update at some point now it's been restored? In the Run dialog box, type the following command: Outlook.exe /resetnavpane Note: There is a space between "Outlook.exe" and "/resetnavpane" Click OK. RandyL Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Why the last post by csopiface? The fix csopiface posted is for an issue that already is solved. The fix csopiface posted will cause a loss of all customizations in the Navigation Pane. Why didn't you post a warning about that csopiface? I think that csopiface doesn't have a clue about this issue. I think he just took an opportunity to post a link to a substandard forum. It's called forum spam.
