NormanG Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hello. I'm not sure if I'm in the correct category here, but I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse (model S 510), which, by and large, has worked admirably over a good number of years. But - and for some for some time now - the mouse sticks and stutters; it generally works on delayed action if that makes sense. For example, when restarting my bird sounds, which I installed at the start of the PC's life, stop and start and break up. Any help much appreciated. Quote
RandyL Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hi Norman. So the mouse is slow to react at times. (for lack of a better description). There are a lot of things possible here. I don't know what is running on your PC or your system specs but I will list a few possibilities. 1. Your mouse is failing or needs batteries. Try a wired or PS2 mouse. Does that work OK? 2. Interference with the signal. Move the mouse receiver to a different port or try the mouse in a slightly different location. 3. RAM or memory. If you have a RAM issue you system could be struggling to keep up. This could cause a lag. If your system is also slow to open other things like documents or control panel that would indicate RAM. Also a slower boot up or other programs slow to start. 4. Your system may be taxed. Even if you have good RAM and have a lot there might be something running that is using a lot of it even if you are unaware of it. Have you installed any software recently? 5. Malware could be runnning that is taxing your system. Do you have an Antivirus program? These are just a few possibilities. I'll bet other people can think of a few more. One step at a time Norman. ennnceee Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hello again Randy. Thanks for your interest. Yes, it's like delayed action. I move the mouse and the cursor follows a second or so later. It's very frustrating and time-consuming. And, as another example, when I start-up the bird sounds that I have installed break up before settling down, if that makes sense. Not batteries, nor virus as far as I know. Have Avast Free. Is there any way I would tell if it's a RAM issue? Quote

NormanG Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 There are several people here, Ken. Does it matter? I've tried a wired mouse (which is PS2), Randy, but it doesn't make any difference. Quote
KenB Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 There are several people here, Ken. Does it matter? It does when you start the thread off as NormanG then the next post is from ennnceee ............as already explained - it is confusing. If I glance down the thread and see a different name it looks as if they have added a suggestion. To have 2 accounts is not unusual but it doesn't make any sense. To us it looks as if we are replying to 2 different people - unless that is the intention ? KenB Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 When I said several people here, I meant here, where I live... In that case you are logged on as somebody else - or is this really you ? I give up. I can see no reason at all why you cannot log on as yourself. If I can't reply to the same poster I will not join the thread. I will leave it to others who may understand - I don't.
