ExTS Admin BetaTime Posted October 4, 2018 ExTS Admin Posted October 4, 2018 Note: I tried posting this on MS support site 3 times (2 different browsers) and it hangs and won't post. So I hope it works here... Until yesterday, when I had to move the Windows Xbox Wireless receiver for Windows unit to another USB port, it worked for 2 years, no problem. Now, no matter how many fixes I try, it will not connect the wireless controller. Here's what I tried (many times) Switched ports Changed controller batteries (12 different, brand new batteries) Different controller(s) Removed, all not essential USB devices, etc, keyboard and mouse Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver (from the CD and 4 different locations [all the same installer]) Moved the receiver within inches of the controller Tried to use the connect button on the bottom of the receiver different ways (hit it once, hold it for up to 30 seconds, hold it once, then release it, then hold it again (that makes the controller green circle blink faster for about 10 seconds). Hold the connect button on the controller until the circle lights rotate from 1,2,3,4 (over and over in all of the above steps). Made sure I had all the latest windows updates And the "one" fix that worked for everyone I read, that didn't for me because the controller never shows under device manager, or add device to your computer, it showed as "Unidentified Device" for all of them, and I never get any unknown device. Here are their steps "Right click on Computer Go to Properties Click on Device Manager Right click on the Unidentified Device (This doesn't show up for me) Go to Properties Go to the Drive tab Click on Update Driver… Browse my computer for driver software Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009] Update Driver Warning Click Yes" I am at a loss. I cannot believe it suddenly died when moving it from one port to another, especially when it makes the green controller circle flash faster after holding the connect button on the bottom of the wireless controller.
