Stellaann Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hallo there.I hope you can help me coz I'm a bit dim when it comes to computers and graphic cards. My problem is this my son really wants the pc game Amnesia the dark decent for Xmas. He doesn't want for much so I would really want to please him with the game. I bought the game tried it on my pc to make sure it was all ok and it didn't work because my graphics card is not sufficient. But I have no idea if the NVIDIA Geforce 6 video card will work on my pc as I only have a PCI slot. I have the DXDIAG.TXT of my pc but have no idea what part to post so that you can help me. I hope I get a reply in time for Xmas. Thank you Stella x Quote

KenB Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi again Evesham is not a make I am familiar with. I need to know which motherboard is in it - specifically if you have a PCIe x 16 slot ...........I know you said you had a PCI slot. PCI Video Cards will probably not cope with that game - but if you have a PCIe slot this is a different matter. Download Speccy from here http://www.piriform.com/speccy It will give you a comprehensive analysis of your system. ============ The processor would probably cope. RAM is OK. We just need to verify the PCIe slot on the motherboard. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi This still suggests that you have a PCIe x 16 http://reviews.cnet.com/motherboards/asus-m2n68-am-se2/4507-3049_7-33632758.html Did Speccy suggest which expansion slots you have ? If this is it - the dark blue slot is the PCIe x 16 Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 would something like this support the game ? [h=1]nVidia GeForce GT 610 1GB DDR3 PCIe HDMI DVI VGA Graphics Card Low Profile[/h] Quote
KenB Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi again, click here - 9400GT click here - GT610 The game specs suggest the 9400GT - which I think is the least expensive. Either of these cards will run that game. You may wish to think about future games / computers. The 6670 is by far the best for under £55 click here 6670 Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Thank you so much, I have just orderd the 6670. Fingers crossed when it arrives :) Quote
KenB Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi, Good choice - it is the one I would have gone for. If you change your computer you can always take this out and move it to the new machine. You won't be disappointed with it. If you ordered from Amazon it should arrive within a week. see here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-2.html You may need to upgrade the Power Supply Unit to run the card I am sorry - I should have pointed this out earlier. Do you know what Wattage the PSU is ? If not - there should be a sticker on the unit itself. I think 400Watts is required.
