KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Stella There will be a label on the PSU ( top or side ) It will have info relating to the PSU - what you are interested in is the figure followed by W or Watts .............. 300 W for instance Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Here is a thought ... The G-Force 9400GT and the GT 610 only require 300 Watts. You could give the suppliers a ring and explain that you have had advice and your machine cannot run the 6670. Could you return it for a refund ? Then order the G-Force 9400GT or GT 610. Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 I cant make sense of this? I know the card needs 450 watt Quote
Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 I might be able to return as I have not opend the box, But would it cost so much to upgrade the watt in my PC, If it wont cost that much I might as well upgrade that too for a better performance. Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Stella Your PSU is 350 Watts Can you take a photo of the PSU please so that I can see if it is a standard one or a special. If it is a standard one there is no problem. I can't find any info on your computer - other than the company has stopped trading. Does it have a model number? Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Yes Evesham did stop trading a few years back, Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Stella - great picture ....very helpful. From the label your PSU is a..... ISO ISO-450PP 4S 350W Switching Power Supply Power Supply Specifications: Form Factor- AT (150mm * 140mm * 86mm) 24-pin (Non ATX) main power connector 4-pin CPU Power Connector (P4) 1 SATA power connector 3 Molex connectors 1 floppy connector The 150 x 140 x 86 is a standard size :) The 24-pin (Non ATX) main power connector bit has me confused. ATX is the standard - Non-ATX ?? Does your main connection on the big circuit look like this ? ============ I deleted your picture - it was showing the product code for your Windows installation. It could have ended up all over the internet and you would find eventually that you had an "illegal" install of Windows :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Thanks for the delete :) It looks like it, but to make sure another pic. sorry a bit blured! Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 That looks like it - they should all be standard if 24 pin. Next question .....the power connections to the hard drive and DVD drive ....do they look like this ? Some newer PSUs don't seem to supply this connection. Also - on the box of the video card - does it say that it needs a 4 or 6 pin power connector ? ( it may not ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I'm off out for a bit - will pick this up later. PSUs are from about £17 upwards .....depending on Wattage and quality :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 yes it would seem so, well I can afford that but when your back could you tell me the ins and outs again :) Quote
Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 I opend the box ( not opend the sealed card) and in the wee book it also says nothing about how many pins but does show this note! Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Stella - back again :) Your hard drive has what is called a Molex connection. ( Some PSUs come with the more recent SATA connection which is different ) It sounds as if the video card has a power connection - but this image shows 3 different types ??? ( it does say ....IF ) I will see what I can find that relates specifically to the video card. We are getting there :) ============ EDIT From what I can find - there is no extra power needed for this card. If the package is clear so you don't have to open it ..... is there a 4 or 6 pin connection on the card ? It will look something like this: Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Indeed we are, would have been lost without you Ken :) Quote
Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 The box does say A minimum 450 w system power supply Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I have found this: click here I don't normally recommend cheap PSUs but I suspect that your system is old and you don't really want to spend a lot of money on it. The reviews are good. Another thought: ( sorry I keep seeing problems :) ) What monitor do you have ? The connections on the back of the video card do not have VGA - which is the older standard. Is it like this? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Sorry - I think your new card DOES have a VGA connection. The 6670 comes in a variety of guises .......if you have a look at your new card the centre connection ( the blue one ) should be the same as my pic above. If it is - I was worrying unduly :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Already checked that the card and my pc have that blue small connection . Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 That is good :) There was an adapter available if needed. Found this too click here This gives off a blue light :) It has a few more connections that may ( or may not ) prove useful. . Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Looks cool, is that what I would need to replace my old one, is it quite easy to remove the old one and build in the new one? Quote
KenB Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi If the connection ( red box see pic below ) is 4 pin [ which I think it is ] then this PSU will replace your old one and give you : 500 Watts 20 + 4 connection ( which will replace your 24 way connection ) 4 pin ATX ( replaces the one in the red box see pic ) 1 SATA hard drive connector ( not needed in your case ) 1 6 pin PCIe connector ( video card - but not needed for yours as you say it does not have one ) 4 molex connectors ( you will only need 2 ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stellaann Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Ok, my son is on my desktop the now so will have to check tomorrow. If it is a 4 pin shall I go ahead and order it? Quote
