is it quite easy to remove the old one and build in the new one?

 

What I would do is to sketch or take photos of all the connections that you have and are going to take off.

 

Then the PSU is held on with 4 small screws at the back.

 

The Molex connections are sometimes a bit stiff to remove but with a bit of persuasion they will come out.

The video suggests an anti-static wrist strap.

You will not need this.

Switch off at the wall but leave the plug in. This maintains the earth connection.

Before you start touch the bare metal of the case.

This will discharge any static in you.

 

If the old PSU has an on/off switch - then switch this off.

As far as I can tell - it will be a direct replacement for your old one.

 

The connections cannot be put in the wrong place or the wrong way around.

They are designed this way.

 

It looks really complicated due to all of the wires BUT it isn't.

Take photos to remind you.

 

Replace the PSU first - do not put the new Video Card in until you have tested the PSU and make sure that that is working OK.

 

If you like you can come back here once the PSU has arrived and ask any further questions you have before you start :)

Alright, It sounds pretty straight forward.Ha ha I remember to touch the metal case first, I haven't lost all my knowledge there is still hope for me lol

Sorry to jump in on your thread. I just wanted to confirm for you that the HD6670 does not need any power leads as it takes all it current through the PCIE slot. I have to same card in my PC as was confused at first by the little booklet supplied with the graphics card showing the power connections but i think the booklet is a generic one supplied with the entire HD range as i have had the same booklet with two different HD graphics cards.

 

BTW you won't be disappointed its a good budget graphics card just make sure you get the latest drivers from the website rather than the ones supplied on the disc provided.

I suspect that you have on-board video ( no actual card ) already ....but it should help.

 

Remember DO NOT put your new Video Card in until you have run the system with the new PSU.

 

Once installed you may need to disable the old drivers.

I can advise on that later :)

Thank you for the video, Don't worry I will first make sure the new PSU is working fine. I don't want to damage the new graphic card.

The PSU should arrive tomorrow and aye i'm looking forward to getting it all in working order too for that game ;)

Everything is installed and built in!!! Very easy to do thank goodness :) I have just downloaded the latest driver from the website.

Everything is working fab.

I'm going to see how my sims game works with the new card now, i'm like a wee kid with a new toy.

So happy it's all gone well without any setbacks.

When my son is in bed I will see if Amnisia will install now.
