KenB Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 have tried safe mode etc & the repair computer option Which OS do you have ? Recovery disc's start to load up then nothing . This sounds like a hard drive problem. Do you have an adapter or caddy that you can connect the drive up to and attach to another computer ? KenB Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 the host Pc attempts to format the drive It recognises it as a drive but not one that is formatted. Can you connect it up - without it being formatted - so that you can run some checks on the drive ? yankee34 Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 In Disk Management the J drive has a Status Healthy Active but the File system is blank, below this is PQService ? Status is Healthy, Unknown Partition? File system is NTFS ... Quote
KenB Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 PQService Partition will probably be the recovery partition. You can use this to re-install (assuming the drive is OK ) You have not told me the Operating System - is it XP ? To try to get your data off the drive try this: click here You will need to do this with the drive connected to the working machine. yankee34 Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 No sorry it#s Windows 7 (not sure if it's 32 or 64 bit) Quote
KenB Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 You can still try the Recuva software from the link. It will take two or three hours - depends on the size of the drive and the amount of data. if you can get your data back then we can look at possibly re-installing if the hard disk itself is OK. You would need to specify which drive to scan - presumably J: Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
