Stranger91 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you could solve this for me; i've yet to study computer science @ university, so until then, i'm stumped. Basically, I'm trying to use the software "Freemake VD", but in order to do that, I have to install the aforementioned .net framework 4. Now, I get fairly far in the process. It tells me that the files are verified, and it continues to install, but around 3/4 of the way through, a message pops up, like so: http://s121.beta.photobucket.com/user/CrystalCreation/media/PrintScreenshot.png.html If you can't see the above image, tell me, and i'll create a link or something. Also, here is the Log File. I can't really decipher it myself, and I have no idea if it contributes to anything: http://s121.beta.photobucket.com/user/CrystalCreation/media/InstallScreenshot.png.html Let me know if you have any idea on how to solve this. Also, i've tried the following: - Installed framework 5 - the software requires framework 4 only. I imagine it would be the same for other future framework software packages. - Done a windows update - as the window suggested. The same thing happens before and after the update, although... the installation process continued a little further after the update. Thanks in advance~ Quote
KenB Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS Your install gets part-way through then fails at KB956250 I am unsure if it is looking for this or trying to install it. Go here and download KB956250 click here Install this then try again with the .Net Framework 4 Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stranger91 Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Hello KenB, thank you for welcoming me to the forum. Thanks for the download link. I did click it. I chose the Windows6.0-KB956250-ia64.MSU file. I download, and in a dozen seconds, a message box pops up saying: "The update does not apply to your system" Regardless of this, I tried downloading .net f4 again. The bottom bar seems to go half way at the "installing .net framework 4 client profile" stage; that's when it stops, and the error message box appears. I'm not sure if there's a solution to this. But regardless, thanks for trying to solve this problem. Quote
KenB Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Hi Do you have .Net Framework 3.5 ? If not - try downloading it from here > install then try to upgrade to 4.0 click here Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Stranger91 Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Yes, I already have .Net Framework 3.5 (SP1) installed. That's why I find it a little strange that I can't upgrade to the one immediately after. I tried downloading it as you suggested anyway; that didn't work, but I expected it not to. Weird thing is, I tried downloading .Net Framework 5, which worked without any problems, but the software I want to use requires .net Framework 4.0 of course. Quote
