first off id like to say hi to you guys,im a newbie.

ok i bought an emachine laptop.d620.it has vista home basics.it has google chrome and internet explorer.thing is it is a no bad machine,bought it second hand,im no a rich person :(.now the problem is watching videos on it,they re very jerky and its hard to understand the video,now its not the connection s its happening at friends aswell and he has gret connection.radio works fine,its just videos,no matter how long you stream them.ive only be able to watch one you tube video,where it was perfect,but when i clicked bck on it agaian.it was just as bad.i dont have windows media player would that be something to do with it?i know nothing about computers,and i got laid off last month due to cutbacks,so im not in position to get a shop to fix it.:(.i have advnced systemcare thing on it,and avg .could a driver be a problem,but im guessing here.any help would be gratefully appreciated;:o

Hi Scotlad and welcome to ExTS first of all could you run a speedtest for us from here and then post those results just to double check your speed I'd then uninstall advanced systemcare , it's pretty useless anyway then reboot your laptop and try video again if no better come back and we'll advise further

broadband im with talk talk. it just annoys me that apart from the video being sluggish,its a good laptop.i was goimng to get a driver progrmme,but the one i tried i had to pay for,and right now thats just not possible.would putting it back to factory settoings help?not that i would know how to do that nywaay lol even if i leave a 2min vid on pause for ages it still is sluggish.l

scoittlad before we try anything else call TalkTalk and ask them to run a speedtest on your line cos 0.5mb dl speed is snails pace , after that if you wanna reset back to factory we'll point you in the right direction

Hope you don't mind me poking my nose in ...... ?

 

its happening at friends aswell and he has gret connection.

Just confirm please - you get a poor download speed at your house and your friends ?

If wireless - what happens to your download speed if you use an ethernet cable ?

 

4. If wireless ...... Do you or your friend have a USB wireless adapter that you could use ?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

it reads broadcom 802.11g network adaptor. no yellow exclamtion marks.

i use wifi its a bulit into laptop. my friend is wifi too. ive plugged cable in cuople times.still no change,i called tlk talk they said no fault,i asked if i could get upgrade or booster,but they sid no,and even if i do have a low broadband,it should still stream a youtube video:( which kinda makes sense as i can play my xbox online no probs.btw i dont have them both on at same time.dont have xbox anymore anyway.sold it to buy laptop as i needed one for job searches.so what could i try next?

 

 

no he has 20meg broadband .mines is rubbish,but all i can afford is talk talk.dont understand why they cant give me more.its the same phone socket i used to get 10meg from bt .stupid talk talk

no just said the max they can give me and what i agreed to.which was 5meg ,i asked at the time will that be ok for gaming,and they said yes.which it was i couldnt complain.like i said even a 40sec vid if i left it an hour it would still jerk,and the voices would be like talking on a mic that keeps cutting out.but radio plays ok. and one time i did watch a video which was pretty long,and it was faultless,but only one time lol

i have google chrome and internet explorer.tried both, i evenm tried to download firefox but half way through it said cant download for some reason.which i forget now.

hi scottlad before we bite the bullet so to speak i'd like you to run the following scan please and then post us the results

 

Step 1

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    [*]Then click Finish.

    [*]MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

    [*]On the Scanner tab:

    • Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.

    [*]If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.

    [*]The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.

    [*]When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".

    [*]Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.

    [*]Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.

    [*]Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

    [*]When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)

    [*]The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

    [*]Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Hi scots lad lets reset your browsers and try that , then we'll check flash player , firstly download AdwCleaner form here AdwCleaner click the blue download from bleeping computer button when its installed click delete let it run and reboot , it will then open a report please post that with your next reply , secondly go to the following link this will verify your flash player version please let me know the results click here

If you bought this system second hand, we have no way of telling at the moment just how much rubbish is on there.

Let's find out.

 

  • Download OTL to your desktop.
    right click on the link and select 'Save Link/Target As'.
     
    if you have problems, try this download link:
    OTL
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check

yea bought it from gumtree.its got a cpl keys missing ,but other wise its pretty clean.only paid 80 pounds for it.prob more than i can afford right now,but doing job searches at the library and jobcentre isnt ideal at times.ill download thing and do that,if tht dont work ,guess as long as the rest works i shouldnt complain.
