Hi

Now this should be simple to do but for some reason my PC just won't boot from a DVD (Windows7). I have a GIGABYTE GA-Z77=DS3H and I have changed the SATA mode to AHCI, and when I restart the PC I go into the boot sequence (F12), where I select my DVD drive but it just keeps booting from the C drive.

What am O doing wrong?

It only has 1 SATA LG DVD drive

Any Suggestions

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

After selecting the DVD drive as the first boot device, did you also select to save or save changes before exiting the BIOS selection page?

If so, you need the disk in the drive, then reboot, it should go from there.

Nev.

Hi and welcome to ExTS

I have changed the SATA mode to AHCI,

Some operating systems, (notably Windows Vista and Windows 7), do not configure themselves to load the AHCI driver upon boot if the SATA-drive controller was not in AHCI mode at the time of installation of the O/s. This can cause failure to boot,

I assume that this is not the case with you as you suggest that it boots from the C: Drive ?

Hi I had the same problem give this a try use SATA 1-3 for your HDD/SDD's and SATA 4 for your DVD then try booting from CD , if that doesn't work go into bios and change use sata ports 4/5 from SATA to IDE save changes and exit it will then work
