Salutations.

So, I just pulled my old aurora laptop out of the closet for work purposes (and some entertainment) and made a clean install from the backup DVD issued by the vendor.

Stuff seems all smooth... until you do anything with it! You name it: Unrar, Rar, fulll screen youtube or video file, play music (jitters, skips), install java, etc. All of those things

will permanently freeze windows until I manually restart.

Now this is an old system, but its also a gaming system, this stuff shouldnt be a challenge. Gosh, my ipod does this stuff like nothing and its a 633mhz processor we're talking about.

Any ideas why this is happening? THanks in advance for reading!

Hi and welcome to ExTS

I assume that the re-install went off with no problems ?

try taking the RAM out > give the contacts a clean with a pencil eraser > replace.

If still the same - try with just one RAM module at a time.

Swap over if no different.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
